One of the secrets to eating healthy is realizing not all meals need to be full-food meals.
Another option, especially if you’re racing the clock and tempted to swing through a fast food joint? Super shakes.
Instead of opting for convenient foods (including most smoothies) which are loaded with sugar, refined sugars, and a lack of protein, quick super shakes are jam-packed with protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals for a fraction of the price.
As a busy personal trainer, I used to make 2-3 of these and bring them to work. You probably don’t need to go that overboard, but one or two per day will keep you full, help you nail your protein, and even sneak more veggies into your diet.
Here’s Mango Madness, a high-protein shake I’ve been testing out.
WHAT YOU NEED:
One Cup Frozen Mango
Two Scoops Vanilla Protein Powder
1 Cup Green Tea
1 Cup Kale (or spinach)
Dash of Cinnamon
WHAT TO DO:
Blend on High, checking after 15 seconds for consistency. The more frozen fruit you use, the thicker the shake.
Drink after a training session OR as a low-carb, low calorie snack or dessert.
