The Ultimate It Works! Greens Review

What are the It Works! Greens?

If you’re like me, sometimes you struggle to eat as many fruits and vegetables as you should on a daily basis. Sometimes I just don’t have time to prepare the food, and if I’m traveling it can be even harder to find fresh food and eat healthy. This is why I have an ongoing love affair with the It Works! Greens.

I figured I’d write this review since It Works! has recently released an updated formula of the Greens that comes in an “orangier” orange flavor than the original version along with a newly added berry flavor.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Greens, it’s a supplement powder made of 38 different herbs, vegetables, and nutrient-rich superfoods. The variety of plants and nutrients in this jar is MUCH greater than what most people would be able to find, buy, prepare, and eat. Not only that, but with each tiny scoop (or two) you get more than 8 servings of fruits and vegetables.

What are the benefits to taking the Greens regularly?

People who have a mainly vegetarian diet are shown to live longer and get sick less frequently. This is because the nutrition of their plant-based diet has loads of healing benefits for the body. Check out the label from the Greens jar below to see exactly what plants are inside.

Screen shot 2013-06-09 at 1.59.31 PM

The Greens can help detoxify your cells, which makes them a great supplement to take in combination with a weight-loss program or the It Works! skinny wrap. Not only that, but the plants found in Greens have an alkalizing effect on your body. If you’re unfamiliar with what is in greens, check out my detailed post about the subject by clicking here.

Basically, having an alkaline body means that your internal pH, or acidity level, is balanced. Disease, mold, fungus and other microorganisms that negatively affect your health can’t survive in an alkaline environment, which is another encouraging reason to add more plants to your diet.

Are there any other reasons I should take Greens?

Yes! A lot of people say that their craving for soda and coffee goes away when they replace these drinks with the Greens. In fact, the label says not to drink them close to bedtime because the amount of plant-power energy actually keeps you feeling alert and awake kind of like coffee does! But without the crash and addictive nature of caffeine.

The huge dose of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants also does wonders for your entire system. Taking Greens regularly can clean out the toxins in your digestive system, and the antioxidants get rid of impurities accumulated in cells. Other people have said that the Greens have contributed to their weight-loss because of the antioxidant, alkalizing, and detoxifying properties of the product.

If you read my recent post about probiotics, you know that adding some beneficial bacteria to your diet can benefit your immune system, your digestive system and possibly even your mood. The new Greens has a cutting-edge probiotic formula to round out the plant nutrition found inside. I can’t think of many other single supplements with this many great benefits for the body.

Are the Greens expensive?

217381_565233046854513_1846085159_n

When you factor in the cost and time of buying, preparing, and eating 8+ servings of vegetables, the Greens simply can’t be beat in terms of price.

A regular-sized jar of Greens with enough powder for about 60 scoops goes for $55 retail or $33 for loyal customers (ask me how to become a loyal customer and get this price). You can also get highly-portable single-servings of Greens on the Go in either flavor for $59 retail/$35 loyal customers that lets you take it anywhere. I like to shake it up in a water bottle but some people stir it into their cups.

The most cost-effective way to buy the Greens are by getting the value-size, of course. At $139 retail and $79 for loyal customers (again, ask me how to get this price on my Facebook page or my email at anna@annagodfrey.com), you get the equivalent of 3 regular sized jars for a good amount less than buying them seperately.

Is it hard to take Greens every day?

Taking Greens is not hard at all! You can mix it in any liquid, and they made sure to give it enough orange and berry flavor (depending on which jar you get) so that it’s delicious in just plain water. It’s also great in smoothies, orange juice, tea– whatever you want to mix it with really.

I like taking it in the morning instead of coffee because it gives me that same energetic feeling but without the crash of caffeine. I also feel fuller longer after eating breakfast and even feel like I can THINK better after taking it. This is a biased review, clearly, but only because I love these Greens so darn much!

Where can I learn more about the It Works! Greens?

You can learn more about the Greens or order them by clicking here.

Like I said before: If you’re the type of person who struggles to eat as many fruits and vegetables as they should, or simply want to give your diet a boost with many benefits, the Greens are something you should seriously consider.

And if you’re already a fan of the It Works! Ultimate Body Applicator, you already know that thousands of people have gotten awesome results from using this product. Adding the Greens to your skinny-wrap plan is a great way to help your body detox even more than using either of these products alone.

If you want to get a detailed look the ingredient of the Greens and their benefits, check out the page on my other blog where I give detailed info about the plants inside by clicking here. Don’t forget to add me on Facebook and email me with any questions at anna@annagodfrey.com

I know that people on blood thinners should NOT take greens because of the Vitamin K. So I will say Not to take it unless you get permission from your doctor. Hope that helps!

Greens is mostly for putting good nutrition in your body. Greens is a life changer for most people. Would to like to get some ordered?

    1. Anna Godfrey

I think that it’s a piece to the puzzle. It will help you on your way. Part of the reason the weight stays where it is comes from the fat cells being full of toxins. So this will help you balance your body, detox your body from the inside, and alkaline your body to help build your immune system. I think with taking greens, being active, and being conservative about the types of food you put in your body you will be on a great path to becoming healthier.

You can have vitamin k rich foods with Xareltto but what about the Greens? I noticed they have white willow tree bark in them. That’s aspirin, which thins your blood.

Callie, I do know if you are are on blood thinners or are supposed to watch out for things that thin your blood you should not take greens. I did send you an email with the ingredients. Feel free to ask your pharmacist or doctor. I don’t think it’s a large amount but I don’t know for sure. It’s better to ask.

When you begin taking it you may detox more in the first month than you would after. So bowel movements is one way your body gets rid of toxins. So it’s possible that you have loose stools but they should regulate after your body detoxes. Drink lots of water.

Ive been using greens to go for a couple weeks and i love the energy that it gives me. The problem i’m having is that it seems to be effecting my sleep. I take it by 9:00 each morning. Any one else having this issue?
I love the way it makes me feel so I really don’t want to stop using it.

      Anna

I’ve heard of that happening when someone takes it close to bed time. Not sure why it’s happening when you take it in the morning. Try only taking 1 scoop a day. See if that helps. Are you drinking caffeine late in the evening? That might be the problem too. It may not be the greens. But try one scoop.

I took the greens for a week..all of a sudden I had extremely bad rectal pain and stomach pains..it lasted about 3 hours..after that it seemed my body was flushed out..spent a while in the bathroom..continued to take the greens. .I feel like years of waste was flushed down the toilet..I feel great now..but wonder if anyone else has had this happen..

Hi! You can take it once a day, but if you feel you need a pick-me up then feel free to take it again. I usually do 6-8 scoops a day because I love them. 🙂

  16. Angela

Hi Dawn! Is there already information out there about what animal products are in each product? I have found an answer for which are vegan. I am assuming those not on that list contain ingredients sourced from animals? Even greens? Evn though there are vegetable sources that could be used instead of animal sources? I am seriously considering becoming a distributer, this is the deciding factor for me. Thanks for any help with where I can find this information.

Does it clean your system of drugs. And if so how long for the drugs to clear out.

    1. Author
      Anna

Hi, I don’t know the answer to that question. It’s not meant to clean out drugs from your system. It’s meant to give you your entire days of fruits and veggies which in turn balances your body’s pH balance, detoxes every day toxins, and helps to alkalize your body.

I struggle to eat vegetables, so this would be all the vegetables I am “supposed” to be eating a day?

    1. Author
      Anna

Hi! This is a nutritional supplement. We recommend this in addition to a healthy diet. If you struggle with veggies then you definitely need this. Once you are on it regularly then I think your body will start craving veggies too.

  21. Kathy

I have been having trouble with high blood pressure. I am already taking two medications for it, but it is still nin t controlled. Can this product help me? I am not overweight and am otherwise healthy. Just bad genes, I guess.

      Anna

      Hi Kathy,

Thanks for stopping by my website. Since I’m not a doctor I can only give you my opinion. I always recommend for you to ask your doctor before you include any nutritional supplements. I personally believe it helps me in many health areas. I stopped taking it for a month and my cholesterol and blood pressure went up. So I know that my body needs it personally. This is a veggie and fruit supplement and I don’t think it will hurt to give it a try. I think that anyone could use more veggies and fruit in their day. If you are on blood thinners then I suggest not taking it because of the Vitamin K.

      Hi Susie,

With any product the key to it is being very consistent. With greens you have to take it every day because it’s a nutritional supplement. It absolutely works for what it is supposed to do as in balances your body, alkalizes, and detoxifies. It’s meant to aid you in supplementing your already healthy lifestyle. Greens is my favorite product and my husband and I both use it every day (for the past 5.5 years). I’m not exactly sure what your goals are but this is a great piece to any health puzzle. Please let me know if you need help ordering. 🙂 wrapwithanna.com is the site you can order from.

Can greens be put into the carrier fluid (water, juice, etc) the night before? My hubby never remembers to add greens but takes a bottle of water from the fridge to work everyday.

  30. Jen

I just started the greens yesterday. It’s supposed to be orange flavor but i do not get that at all. It is awful. What are some other things other than water that i can mix it with to help with taste? I’ve heard some people do smoothies so I’m also going to research that, I just don’t want to put it in something that may hinder the results. Thank you.

    1. Author
      Anna

Hi Jen, the orange flavor is very slight. The most important thing is you get it in your body. It will taste like what you mix it with. So mix with juice. I put mine in my profit protein shake. Yogurt, applesauce, smoothies, ranch dip for salads/veggies, shot glass with juice and chase it, chocolate milk… Whatever you want. Hope that helps! -Anna

I just started greens to go and some other products today and am having horrible acid reflux. I have a stomach ulcer but really want to continue trying this. Any suggestions?

    1. Author
      Anna

Hi, what other products are you taking? Try taking your supplements with food in your stomach. Also drink lots of water. I’ve never heard of greens giving acid reflux. Try cutting to half a pack at first then work your way up to a full pack.

      Anna

Hi, I always recommend asking your physician. With that being said, I know people who do and don’t have any issues. If you are on blood thinners, then that’s a different story. You shouldn’t take greens while on blood thinners because of the vitamin k. Hope that helps. 🙂

I drink red bull like crazy, does this really help with energy because I’m drinking like 4-6 12 oz a day of red bull. Want to get healthy, without the junk. my kidneys give me a lot of trouble and I have episodes of hypoglycemia, do you think this is a good alternative?

Yes absolutely! Greens is extremely good for energy. I would suggest this over red bull any day. 🙂

Hi! Definitely check with your doctor, but greens have probiotics and our chews have prebiotic in them.Because of this fact, one of the most common natural remedies for yeast infections has long involved restoring the vagina’s population of friendly bacteria, especially Lactobacillus acidophilus, by using yogurt or probiotics.

If you choose to order, then you can order via wrapwithanna.com .

I have been reading this blog and saw where it says not to take greens if on a blood thinner. I am not on a blood thinner but do take aspirin 81 everyday. Should I not use the greens?

    1. Author
      Anna

You should always ask your doctors permission for sure. If you want to take them then I recommend taking the product info sheet to your doctor and asking. If the aspirin 81 does what blood thinners do, then I would not recommend taking greens. The reason for it is that people on blood thinners can’t have vitamin k and greens have vitamin k in it.

I am 60 and have been taking the Greens for the last month! My blood pressure was always been extremely high but had been sky rocketing @220/99 and I was put on blood pressure meds. I hated the way they made me feel surreal and started taking just the greens. My pressure went down to now a consistent 120/55 a rate my meds never took me too! I feel energetic and have lost 13 pounds. Probably due to my new found energy levels. Not suggesting this approach for everyone but it’s been fantastic for me! ❤️

Unfortunately every doctor has their views. I can’t recommend this for children under 18 either because of fda regulations. Every person has a right to make their own decisions. Veggies are good for kids but it does have green tea extract in it which may cause child too much energy or may cause them to not focus as well. I see their point.

Cleanse is probably enough those 2 days. Also they probably don’t want you to over detox. I’ve taken the Greens and cleanse the same day. I just make sure I drink extra water. But I always recommend following the labels.
